Spring Did Come

Native azaleas blooming down by the creek.

Well, spring did come this year. The weather has been glorious for a few weeks now. The landscape of dull, gray sky and bare trees has been replaced by an expanse of luscious green. My mood seemed to lift in unison with the changing season. Each day brings a new wonder to appreciate.

The native azaleas are blooming down by the creek. And the dogwoods are still magnificent - pure white accents in the sea of green out my window. The droves of pine siskins that visited my birdfeeders all winter have gone. The crowd of regulars is smaller than it was, except for the squirrels. Their numbers have increased. The deer walk through on their daily forage, usually early morning or just before sunset. I added a salt/mineral lick for the deer, but some of them also feed on the cracked corn that I leave on the ground. The other day as I was doing pushups in the driveway, I spotted a turkey crossing about 100 feet from where I was working out. That's the first turkey I have seen here, and definitely the first one I have seen while doing pushups.

I bought some stall mats from the Tractor Supply in Commerce to use for my driveway workouts. I needed something to put on top of the gravel; the yoga mats were not cutting it. Now I have a good surface for pushups, sit-ups and other floor work, and they also provide firm footing for weightlifting.

I finally installed a small closet rod in the sleeping loft so that I have more space to hang a few clothes. Most of my nice clothes, dresses and the like, are in a spare closet at my mom's. I have limited hanging space here in the laundry room, but I needed a little more.  Inspiration for this project hit me earlier in the week, and now it is done. I like how it turned out. Picture below.
